Thanks all - all fixed. I don't know why but as soon as I made the client form modal, it all worked.
All your advice was valuable though especially the "DO FORM CLIENTS NAME CLIENTS" from Stephen. I've been using Fox for years and didn't know you could run a form and refer to it with a different name.
