Another idea: Connect an external USB drive, download the free VMware Player, and clone your laptop to a VM stored on the USB drive. Then take your cloned VM and run in on another workstation/laptop using the free VMware Player. No reinstalling or reconfiguring anything. And even though you're running in a VM, your VM environment will be SO MUCH FASTER on any newer computer you run it on than it was on your original 7 year old laptop. Plus, you have the added security of having a functional backup that is not dependent on hardware that might die at any point in time.
