Most ink jet printers use the computer for all processing. That makes them
cheap since there's no processor onboard.

I have a friend with a nice HP dual quad xeon cpu machine with vista 64 bit
OS. Pc runs great, until he installed an Epson R1900 ink jet printer. Excel
began to run like a slug, and print speed and properties response with
printer interface are horribly slow. Latest win64 driver from Epson was of
no help. The Office performance "fix" was me installing CutePDF and setting
default printer to same. He got his performance back, except when selecting
the R1900 for any print job. Slow, slow, slow.
