"In a sensible country, people would see Obama as a president trying
to define a modern brand of moderate progressivism. In a sensible
country, Obama would be able to clearly define this project without
fear of offending the people he needs to get legislation passed. But
we don’t live in that country."

Brooks may be many things, but he does not understand this country,
nor does he understand Obama at all.

Obama is forty clicks to Brooks' left, if that close. If Brooks had
read Obama's book -- really read it, not just been enraptured by it's
Ayers-breathed odyssean rhetoric -- he'd not trust a single word that
comes out of the man's mouth, because his deceptive techniques of
evasion and dissimulation are reflected upon openly, as he learned to
practice them on his own mother.
