Actually I'm not a big Clancy fan at all. He's into the gadgetry of
war and builds plots around the mechanical possibilities. OK as far as
it goes, but doesn't hit my hot buttons very often, so to speak.

I like Le Carre a lot more. Le Carre is to Clancy what Dostoevsky is
to Tolstoy, assuming either Le Carre or Clancy deserve such
comparison.

Conrad and Dostoesvky are probably the more insidious influences on my psyche.
