Stephen, > But do you really need a touchscreen on a laptop that’s already got a > perfectly good keyboard and touchpad?
A few weeks ago I scoffed at the value of touch screens for traditional PCs. After borrowing a colleagues iPad for a weekend, I have reversed my opinion a 180 degrees. I believe there's a big future for touch screen interfaces if the OS provides a comfortable mapping of touch gestures to events as implemented on the iPad. True story: After spending a few hours on the iPad, I returned to my regular laptop to do some work. I was so used to the touch screen interface that I actually tried touching my monitor to get things done. That sold me on how natural a well implemented touch screen interface can be. Another point: As great as a touch screen interface is, I don't see touch screen's replacing keyboards. I'm not a fan of typing on touch screens.
