Hi Michael, NAZIS is a common name for what translates from German as National Socialist party. This was a strongly collectivist organization very like the current condo board that tended to act in very arbitrary, capricious and forceful fashion. And yes, I am forced to live here by present circumstances, but I of course chose to live here when I moved in. When I came here the board was far different, allowing for great individualism. I myself served on the board for about ten years, including three years as president. While I was president a number of crackheads moved in and began to operate drug-selling businesses from their units. I got them to move out by strictly enforcing the parking rules, which are easy enough to obey for residents but are confusing for those who have no business on the property - such as crackhouse customers. Of course the crackheads were offended when I towed away their customers' cars (the only remedy allowed in Florida to condos), and some of them started rumors about me, the most serious one that I had threatened someone with a gun. The truth was that someone had threatened me, but neither of us had said anything about a gun. Although false, this rumor continues 15 years later. Some people hate and fear me having believed the rumor so I have less than complete support. The current board is dominated by people who were not here in the old days and wish to remake the place into something so exclusive that those of us who have been here for 20 years won't fit in even if we can afford it. With this in mind they have declared jihad on me and anyone who has to make do with less than the absolute most expensive. Thus they have some four foreclosures to deal with and a huge deficit in the budget from this and their wanton spending on gentrification efforts. Naturally, I am blamed for the budget and anything else that is less than perfect, although I had nothing to do with it. Every year I run for the board. It gives me one page at the board's expense to present my side of the story. There are rules, and the rules are fine. But this board tries to enforce "rules" they don't have. The only way to stop them would be to take them to court or for them to take the people they are harassing to court. They will not do this because they know they are outside the law, and the people they are harassing are too poor to do it so . . . -- Regards, Pete http://pete-theisen.com/ http://elect-pete-theisen.com/ _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
