Except - as Rafael mentioned - the program has to run automatically -
during after hours - like at Midnight - when the user isn't actually
there at the computer. So - i.e. - no user intervention...

Why not put in a if ! found() method to present a folder picker for
the user to FIND IT THEMSELVES ?

I could see keeping data from waking out the door!  But if you are
going to allow the users to do this on thumb drives that are not
supported does it really matter?
