I really don't see the two companies as equal.  One is a hardware
sales company and the other is a software company.

Apple is brand strong, in that you see the identity of the product on
millions of devices around the world.  M$ is not brand boastful at all
in that you never see the logo associated with their products.

Microsquish had a huge set of gains in the 80-90 run to Y2K.  Business
wanted computers and they were the only game in town.  Today the world
is on replacement equipment retiring older assets as needed.  Other OS
vendors can chip away at the strength of M$ because there are now
other games in town.

I like that other games are out there.  It demands improvements across
all products.  We all win.
