Hi Adam,

Don't see the "simple maths" on that page. Unless you are going from the 
"self defense" statistic with the assumption that the criminal was 
killed. In all the years I have carried I have drawn once - years ago - 
on a dog who was menacing me. The dog turned around and walked away upon 
seeing the gun, and I, of course, did not shoot.

This page indeed has that approximate figure, but not from "gun crime" 
which you assert. They break it down thus: "In 2003 alone, 30,136 
Americans died by gunfire: 16,907 in firearm suicides, 11,920 in firearm 
homicides, 730 in unintentional shootings, and 232 in firearm deaths of 
unknown intent, according to the National Center for Health Statistics." 
Since 2003 the numbers have fallen.

So you more than doubled the "gun crime" death figure! Unless you want 
to call suicide a crime.
