I disagree that you can say that the call on the final out robbed the
pitcher of a perfect game. Were there any other calls that may have been wrong?
Maybe a 1-1 pitch in the 3rd inning that was called a strike when it should
have been a ball? As a batter, you approach a 1-2 pitch much differently than
you would a 2-1 pitch, and may have forced him to swing at a questionable pitch.
Or were there any other close plays that went in favor of the pitcher?
If so, those also need to be reviewed. All 27 outs make a perfect game, not
just the last. In fact, it is the assumption that priors calls are settled fact
that allows one to even think that that 9th inning call made the difference.
