We Argentines, as every nation in the world, need motives to be proud of. Soccer is not a very good example, (I'd rather be proud of scientific achievements, which, BTW, we had some), but these days, millions of people throughout the world, are interested in soccer (football, really, as the Brits call it, since touching the ball with your hands is not allowed). And even though football is not one of my main interests in life, a World Tournament is important. And if my countrymen win, I get very proud.
