That is what the rank of General and Admiral are for.  Lead and
inspire their troops in their way of life.  The Presidents job is to
lead the country.  The military is a small but expensive part of it.

Few have been over the history of the USA and probably a good thing in
the long haul.  Otherwise you get Napoleon like leaders which is not
what we were or are about.

Nobody would have ever expected Bush to be the "Brilliant Leader of
the Military" and he was an officer.  Or did I miss a few years?   Why
do you expect Obama to grab control of the military and run it from
his desk?
