Anything we can> Hi Guys, Shocking how html messages get mangled. But, verizon webmail offers no text option and forces you to top post. Argh! As I recall the message was this: "I fell off my bike, spent a night in intensive care and four days in the hospital." Then sent to rehab, from where I sent that message as soon as I was able to get to the computer they provide for patient use. Released yesterday, I almost had to work the same night, but someone else stepped up to the plate and I didn't have to. I had the accident because another driver made a threatening move in my direction in traffic. I applied the front brake which usually stops the bike. This time, however it went down and I bounced and skidded along until I stopped. My face shield came off my helmet just before I stopped but I only had a small cut on my lower lip. The rest of me, however was non stop road rash and a broken rib. I have a rider's armor suit but the day I crashed it was too hot to wear it. I had only short sleeves and short pants on - and was hot wearing these. That said, it is cooler than usual for this time of year here. The bike gets 75 to 80 miles per gallon, but the hospital and rehab will probably cost the government $100K or more. They would be way ahead to give me enough in my social security that I could afford a car and the gas to run it. This is my fourth bike, I have 8000+ miles on it - who knows how many on the earlier three. In all that riding I have never known a bike to just go down as a result of braking with the front brake. I speculate that I must have been on a patch of sand, gravel or maybe an oil slick. -- Regards, Pete http://pete-theisen.com/ http://elect-pete-theisen.com/ _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
