As you may know, you can't, unless you want to go XP - Vista - Windows 7. For the record I think forcing clean installs is a good thing.
Anyway, that didn't stop MicroSoft producing an "Upgrading From XP To Windows 7" guide. It has this snippet near the top: "To upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7, you'll need to select the Custom option during Windows 7 installation. A custom installation doesn't preserve your programs, files, or settings. It's sometimes called a "clean" installation for that reason." My ass. Everyone on the planet understands a custom installation is where you get to change some stuff about the installation.
