Using Internet Explorer: If you visit a web page that has used
the lang= attribute properly, when you copy and paste its text
into Word, the language setting is preserved. For example, when
you copy and paste text from a French website into Word, Word
will automatically tag the text as French and use its French
dictionary and grammar checker when your dealing with this block
of text.

When using any recent version of FireFox, copying and pasting
text from international websites into Word results in the text
being copied WITHOUT the language attribute being preserved.

I'm wondering if this is a known limitation of FireFox (or Word
2003/2007) and if there's a workaround for this, eg. FireFox
setting or plugin?

I've been googling this topic without success using variations on
the following terms:

firefox html clipboard word (language|lang)

What's odd is that I can't find anyone else with the same
complaint. Perhaps I have a FireFox configuration option set
wrong?

I would appreciate hearing if any of you have had success copying
text from FireFox into Word with preservation of language
attribute or if you can confirm that this does not work at all.

Thank you,
Malcolm
