I have a Garmin. My wife has a Magellan. UI is much better on the Garmin
IMHO. Easier to use, although finding a location on the Magellan is easier
because it dims letters/numbers that don't apply as you type (its version of
intellesense?). Hers doesn't seem to have a battery and must be plugged
in to the cigarette lighter however I am sure it is a lower model; it was a
gift from my last employer and they bought 2000 of them).

Jack's comment about maps is dead-on. I've had mine for a few years and am
getting the "Map is out of date" warning every time I turn it on. Not a
big deal, as where I am going isn't changing much. I think Garmin wants $69
for an update, I haven't bothered although I did get a discount coupon with
my change-of-address kit from the PO so maybe I'll look into it again.

Used them on our drive from Sioux Falls to Los Angeles. Great for finding
restaurants, gas stations, stores... you name it.

Subject: [NF] Looking for GPS system for my car, any suggestions?

I'm looking for a GPS system for my car. I don't know the first thing about
lifetime maps, support, traffic, weather, ease of use, etc..

Does anyone have any preferences or things I should avoid?pr
