Stephen,
Well we get taxed for the same via what is laughingly called "National
Insurance" then they STILL charge us for our prescriptions on top of that.
Good as the National Health Service is if your condition is life
threatening, it is a pain in the ass for the everyday illnesses, as is the
Dental care which is just not free any more like it used to be. 

As they say, there are two certainties in life: Death and Taxes!!

Seems that you get taxed by the gallon and we are taxed by the DR
visit and prescription.

In the end it could be the same money out of our pockets.  :(
