Don't know about Stephen, but we have one here that blocks me from sites
that I DO consider necessary for my job.

Sometimes I do a Google search to research an issue and have to visit the
site on my cell phone to get the answer I need. I understand the reasoning
behind a corporate I0nternet filter, but sometimes they are more trouble
than they are worth. And who 'watches the watchers'...that was an issue
at a previous job I had where the IT manager (and his wife who worked in
another department) had unfiltered access.

Is it possible that your employer has a firewall or proxy device that
blocks websites it considers a complete waste of time and irrelevant
to your job?
