Personally, I gringe when I see people buying bottled water - even in bulk at a kiosk idea.... BUY A DAMN FILTER PEOPLE !!!! But maybe your idea is a good one if you just generalize it... don't build an interface for this one device, build one that can be adapted to any sort of device that can use a card reader... Make one that can run via cell/wireless so it can be used at farmer's markets, rentals for people hosting garage sales, whatever... To me - THAT sounds like where the real application of this would be...
