We (or some of us) have big fingers. Make sure that the button is big enough to allow those fingers to active the action.
We did a touch screen application for a manufacturing application. While it was being tested, the data entry people ended up using the keyboard and mouse more than the touch screen feature. In our case, it appears that the programming effort for the touch portion didn't meet expectations.
