One other thing about a VPN connection that might be a concern. Although most VPN tunnels provide excellent security, a remote user that has a dual connection, (eg inbound and outbound access over the internet within the normal environment in addition to a persistent VPN tunnel connected to a remote network, is subject to compromise from the normal connection. Any intrusion over the normal WAN environment could give the intruder access to the remote network over the VPN connection.
