Hi Everybody,

Been here 30 years and never went. Went last night, just got back.

Well, to begin with, the temp was nice on the 40 minute walk downtown,
but chilly on the way back - dropped 13 degrees F in that time. Now when
I first came here the walk was only 30 minutes, but I was younger and I
lived a few blocks closer.

They probably had 30,000 people in the street where they only expected
20,000. Like New York, there was nothing to do but stand in the crowd.
However, I found a park bench with a perfect view a block away from the
crunch. Most everybody was polite, even though it was sardine city.

There was stuff to eat, but you really couldn't get into the sit-down
places for the lines and the outside stuff was all sugar and starch.
There was one fat old gal trying to sell lighted decorations and
noisemakers - looked like she was losing her 4x shirt.

Some women should not wear cleavage to parties, no matter how drunk they
expect to be. She might not be embarrassed herself, but her kids will
be. Don't ask what her mother will think!

I waited for about 10 minutes after the pineapple drop before I tried to
leave. If I ever go again I will wait a half hour, and wear better shoes.

Supposedly there were porta-potties set up to accommodate those who
needed them. Never saw any, though. Just as well. With the crush they
had they would have been dumped if they were anywhere near that crowd.

Pete
