Please tell me how to replace the following vfp functions with their
equivalent T-SQL functions (for SQL Server)

NVL
VAL

they are used in a select statement like

select a.account,a.invdate,a.invno,a.invamt,nvl(b.company,'') as company ;
from invoices as a left outer join customers as b ;
where a.account = val(b.account)........

This is a legacy vfp app that I have to convert to a SQL Server backend.
The previous programmer made the account field in the customer table as
type character and the account field in the invoices table as integer !!!

TIA

Rafael Copquin
