If I recall my contracts/civil studies correctly....

Copyrights continue until the death of the author/owner +70 years.

I think that's the US law - I don't know if it's accepted internationally.

So even when MS dies we'll have to wait 70 years for Windows copr. to 
expire... well, assuming anyone would even want to touch that junk...
