The file is an odd format which I haven't seen before.   The patient balance is 
supposed to be in column 810 for a length of 9 (7 and 2 after decimal)

In that field are weird characters like '}' 'J' and other characters.   Is this 
some packed format?   I don't get it.

All the other data so far has been either Z for numeric (which I think is left 
zero filled) and C for character.
