Matt,

You may already know about it, but look into Fusion Tables in Google 
Maps. It provides a really simple interface for uploading CSV files, 
click click click and you've got your map. The CSV data can either have 
addresses, i.e., street+zip, or lat-long coordinates. If you only 
provide addresses, it will automatically convert to lat-long for you. 
You can also have additional data for each map point that will pop up on 
a flag. Best of all, you can share the "spreadsheet" with other 
collaborators and they can access and edit your data table.

Very easy to use, very fast, very complete. I think the results can even 
be embedded (with code provided by Google Maps) into a web page you manage.
