Graham, We have Exchange 2010 and I don't know which version you are using but under the "Recipient Configuration" you need to set up an entry in the Mail contact for your external email address as an SMTP type address. Then under the Mailbox section where you have your main Exchange account details select the MailFlow settings and set your forwarding address to be the account specified above.
This effectively gives you a mail bounce ability to any outside SMTP account and you can then filter this so that you only bounce out the emails that you want to see externally. Hi I'm using SBS2003 and Exchange to route emails to my Lan and local outlook, if I use my Outlook to BCC a message to myself it appears almost immediately in my inbox. I guess this means that exchange is grabbing the email and deciding it doesn't need to go to the outside world so it just gets routed locally However I've one email address called [email protected] which I want to go out to the web. The reason is that I have a separate Pop3 account which is monitored by a Nix cron job. The cron reads all incoming emails and stores them in a MySQL database. If I try to forward from Outlook now to store@ I just get an unknown recipient bounce. The only way I can see to do this is by using another domain (myseconddomain.co.uk) and having myseconddomain.co.uk forward back to [email protected] but this is fairly nasty. Anybody have a better solution please.
