Malcolm, You could install a trial version of SQL Server (it works 180 days). I believe the management tool will continue to work.
The worst case scenario - you could buy a Developer Edition, from here: http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/en/us/get-sql-server/how-to-buy.aspx It's just 37 bucks and it has the Enterprise Edition features packed in it - you just can't distribute it (you can't distribute SQL Server anyway - the customer has to own his own copy) -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Malcolm Greene Sent: Saturday, April 30, 2011 12:08 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [NF] Free version of SQL Server 2008R2 Mangement Studio ? Is there a free version of SQL Server 2008R2 Management Studio or must one purchase a commercial version of SQL Server 2008R2 to gain access to this tool? On my customers MSDN account they have this tool available for download without a license key. But I can't find an equivalent public version of this tools.
