Great way to go into the weekend

My client has loaded a large batch file for updating stock on hand and is
greeted with "my" error message reference 109, "Record is in use by someone
else"
System uses "free" tables without a DBC
What he can do now is run around all the workstations to see who has this
stock item profile open on their system and close it
OR he can abort, and not know what was posted and what was not.
I know some of you will raise eyebrows and say this is bad programming
technique and I will probably agree
However ....
Can anyone suggest
1 how to determine WHO has this "Record in use" ?
2 Can I programmatically close the record?
