You should be able to explicitly SET ORDER TO a different index file, CDX or IDX, but the default active index file when you USE the table will be the structural CDX (i.e. the one with the same name as the DBF). I'll often do this when I need a temporary index. Another thing you have to keep in mind when you have additional indexes is you must explicitly open them for them to be updated. VFP will only open the structural CDX when the table is USEd.

Seems I answered my own question. After a real quick test - its obvious that if you have a CDX attached to a DBF - even if you attempt to Set Index to an IDX file - VFP Refuses to let you do it. It won't report an error or crash - it simply as though it ignores that you issued the command. Oh well - on to another solution... -K- _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/DF1EEF11E586A64FB54A97F22A8BD04421726A9669@ACKBWDDQH1.artfact.local ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
