I need to remove the string "(1)" from file names in Windows XP Explorer. This string is always just before the dot suffix. The names can be of any length. Can someone think of a way to do it with the ?* wild card characters?

I know I can write a Foxpro program but I thought wild cards would be easier but so far no luck.
