Perhaps you've forgotten the USA preemptive war with Iraq, and
subsequent occupation. The real motives behind the war with Iraq was
never clear to me. The claim that Saddam had WMD proved false, and the
war cannot be justified as part of a broader "War on Terror", in my opinion.
So much life and limb were lost in battle, from IEDs, from colateral
damage, which killed innocent men, women and children, from death squads
used by the various factions in religious and ethnic cleaning, lost of
USA treasure, lost of property, and finally the lost of respect of the
international community.
I'm not sure of the motives and objectives behind the war with Iraq, but
the USA has very little, if anything, to show for it.
I don't want to go back to the kind of foreign policy that created the
war with Iraq.

The state department has not yet gotten to the bottom of this, including the
motive behind the attack. The Israeli Mossad could be behind it for all I know
with the motive of giving Mitt Romney's campaign ammunition with which to
attack President Obama.
The relationship between Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, and
President Obama doesn't seem to be on the best of terms, and I'm sure Prime
Minister Netanyahu feels he would be better served with the election of the
president, who would have the most Neoconservative running the USA foreign
policy. LOL
