iirc I always used an auto increment field in the main table e.g. :
insert into mtab (fld), values("msSQLserver")
then
insert into reltab (fkey, val) values ((select @@identity from mtab),
"field list")
you need to wrap it in a transaction or - preferably- use an' instead
of' trigger in a _view_
