I'm pleased to announce that I've been working on a mod_proxy module for ProFTPD, for proxying FTP in both forward and reverse mode, for quite a while. And recently, I think it's reached the state of being useful for wider deployment use.
So without much more ado, see: https://github.com/Castaglia/proftpd-mod_proxy This module supports FTPS (i.e. FTP over SSL/TLS) for frontend AND backend connections (in both forward and reverse proxy mode), IPv6, configurable active/passive data transfer policies, and load balancing (both "balancing" and "sticky" policies).
