Dunno if this is your problem, but GRUB sometimes has trouble reading
from an additional hard drive. According to the GRUB manual, you can get
around this problem by temporarily remapping.
if this is your problem, the lines you need to add to the Slackware
stanza would be (I think):
map (hdo) (hd2)
map (hd2) (hd0)
I'm doing this from memory, so you might want to double-check the hard
drive names - GRUB's naming system can be a pain, and I've had a long
day.
