.. then stop printing after the 1st page! :)

Seriously -- I'm using the same printer, no probs -- AFTER I threw away
lprng and replaced it with lpr. (Why this should make such a
difference, I don't know. Anyone got any clues?) I had the same
problem as you to begin with.

I purged lprng [ dpkg --purge lprng ]
the installed lpr [ apt-get install lpr ]
from a sources list pointing to testing.

The driver I installed under magicfilter was as follows:

  # This file was generated by /usr/sbin/magicfilterconfig.
  #
  lp|epsonsc|Stylus Color 670:\
          :lp=/dev/lp0:sd=/var/spool/lpd/epsonsc:\
          :sh:pw#80:pl#66:px#1440:mx#0:\
          :if=/etc/magicfilter/stylus_color_360dpi-filter:\
          :af=/var/log/lp-acct:lf=/var/log/lp-errs:

.. which reminds me -- I noticed that the printer name 'epson' is
already in use, so I changed the one I gave to: epsonsc
