What am I doing wrong?
I have an ESS688 on-board sound card not recognized by the progeny
installer. Fine, I say. I'll compile the driver as a module in my
shiny new 2.4.9 kernel, install the latest version of ALSA (which works
just fine when I've used Libranet) and all will be well. Right?
Nope.
Nothing.
It says it can't find module snd.
What is that? The driver for my card is sb. How do I get the snd
driver? Where is it in the kernel?
I am so frustrated with sound in Progeny -- it's the one thing that
makes me repeatedly install something else on top of it (until I get the
bug to try it again). I've tried many different approaches to this but
always the same result -- silence.
Can someone please help me?
Again, I have the latest version of ALSA, I compiled the sb sound driver
as module in my 2.4.9 kernel and this card works with every other distro
I've installed on my old box.
Any ideas gang?
Thanks in advance!
