i need to configure my Progeny system for internet access. i have an
ISA-based NIC that is ne2000 compatible, and i connect to the internet over
a DSL connection using PPPoE. i was wondering exactly what i need to do.

i've installed RP-PPPoE (http://www.roaringpenguin.com/pppoe/), but it
won't connect. i read the manual and tried to reconfigure my ethernet card
using 'dpkg-reconfigure etherconf'. it seems to detect a card on eth0, but
after i'm done configuring the card, it says it can't start and eth0
doesn't exist in /dev (i suppose that's where it should be).

i'm not an experienced linux user, but i can manage, so technical
explanations are no problem - as long as they are not just technical, but
also explanations :)
