The concept of using adverbs makes sense, and they are handy. I can't say as 
much for gerunds. I move around a lot growing up and I missed parts of speech 
and had double doses of many other things.

When you say you "have no problem with /B" , do you mean that you don't have a 
conceptual problem with it , or that you don't get a syntax error when you 
execute it?
