Right now I am not sure if any single JavaScript library is up to the job but 
there are certainly good grids and graphics libraries. D3 has been mentioned 
here, if you Google JavaScript grids you will quickly find half a dozen. For 
general purpose utilities jQuery is widely used. I am just starting out with 
this stuff and bombing the world with blog entries is part of the learning 
process.
