Big thanks to everybody that answered! I seem to have interleaved two quite different questions into one.
1) For those that answered how to find number of divisors without using recursion (esp. Aarie), much obliged. I was looking for that formula all over the place! 2) For those that answered re recursion and nested variables: Raul: I am almost getting to expect your detailed and high-quality answers. Hope I'm not getting dependent! LOL. All questions (and then some) answered. Don: Thanks, I was slowly coming to those conclusions ( about which functions /can/ be nested), nice to have some conformation. So, no closures in J. Hm, kind of disappointing, but I do love discovering the *other* way.
