[Jprogramming] splitting 24 bit bmp data

I need to extract individual rgb data from a bmp file. bmp.ijs only 
provides the 24 bit composite value .... I can split individual values 
(256 256 256 #: val) but how do I break-out the entire file to W x H x 3 
format? Am now locked on a 64 bit system!!
