Hi everyone,

In a previous chat forum thread [1] I had talked about the different domains of
the J learning ecology [2] (or any learning ecology for that matter) and I
think that this is a great example of the strength of J's emergent domain. The
emergent domain is the part of the learning environment that uses discussion
and reflection to develop knowledge. In this thread we have have had 10
individuals respond to the original post. Although it is a concern that the
original poster has not come back onto this thread, I can see evidence that the
answers provided information at a variety of levels and the group as a whole
was able to explore the original question thoroughly.

So often we think of the learning materials of J as the very good texts and
labs that are available through the language, but I think that the area that
provides the best learning opportunity are the forums and the wikis. For
discipline such as programming the deep learning afforded by the emergent
domain is essential.

Cheers, bob
