In thinking more about this problem, I would like some more explanation of
David's main equation:

"The frequency of a low amplitude undriven pendulum is the square root of
the acceleration divided by length.

"FREQUENCY =: GRAVITY %:@:% LENGTH"

To what does the term "GRAVITY"/acceleration refer? I can think of two
different references:
a) approximately 32 ft/sec^2
b) the acceleration of the specific pendulum at any moment

When I wrote my previous message I was thinking "b" was correct, but the
more I ponder this, the more I wonder if "a" is correct.
