Are you puzzled that &> means that your verb only sees the content of one box? Sometimes it helps to throw in something like an @([smoutput) to see what's going on. (1 |. 2= ] &>) +:@]^:(([smoutput)@[) &> ;/ 1 2 3 2 2 4 2 1 1 2 3 2 2 4 2 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 1 More generally, when dealing with something unexpected it's a really good idea to provide several different perspectives: (1) What you are trying to accomplish (in general terms) (2) What you specifically tried (3) What you specifically expected (4) What you got that was not what you expected. It's hard to answer appropriately when you do not describe your expectations. Basically, we are reduced to guesswork. Then again, having been on the problem reporting side of things, I know it can be difficult to break out of your focus to try and imagine what it is that another person will not automatically "just know".
