I know nothing about gl2 (or wd) and was trying to keep it that way.
Probably time to reconsider that view.

Apart from that, in http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/Plot/Fonts there is a
link http://www.jsoftware/com/help/user/fontspec.htm but this page cannot be
found.
I get the impression pd 'textfont ...' is ignored anyhow.
