I had the same reaction. Trains are the default relationship in tacit
style, and forks the major of the two forms of verb train.

Dan's question seems like the flip side of the recent talk of modifiers as
"padding." Those who use tacit form in J will do well to rely heavily on
forks. There may be little else to be said.
