Don, I was using  >:i.10  but 1r1+i.10  is great to change the whole table to 
rationals.

In the */~ i.11 times table, the largest product is 100. So when you "undo" all 
the pairs with division you get a huge table!

  I think if third grade students studied this large chart for a few months, 
looking for patterns, they might even learn to divide.

(i.101) % table 1r1+i.10

Thanks for showing me it could be done with "table".  I made it "from scratch" 
as they say in cooking.

this will remove * by 0 and 0% whatever as well as whatever %0 For division it 
might be practical to use 1r1+i.m)  if you wish to stay with fractions

While the table above looks good in J - it doesn't look good here without 
fooling around. I expect that it could be formatted for appearance.

It seems to me that table as is works quite nicely except for those pesky 
negative numbers -something that could be left in and explained to students as 
something to be dealt with  in the future-low temperatures or if the main floor 
of a bu9ilding is called level 0, first floor is level 1 -then basement is 
level -1.

One thing that I learned when doing some volunteer tutoring is that the 
students who needed it the most were the ones most dependent on printed tables 
in later grades (they had been passed on without actually learning the 
fundamentals.
