I'm sorry I didn't answer sooner. After the FSWS event I had to go to Driver School on Saturday from 1 to 4. Most of the rest of the time from not til then I have been sleeping.
You didn't mention the temperature. I use 425 but I think this oven needs to be higher than the one in Longboat where 400 was about the same. It must be that your oven was too hot. I'm lazy and use aluminum foil on the pan and so I just put a scant tablespoon of olive oil in the bowl and stir them around an then pour them on the cookie sheet. I don't even turn them over and they are done in about 45 minutes. However I'd poke them after a half hour and then add more minutes until they feel done. I tend toward the least work possible. You are not a failure, just inexperienced. I've burned a batch myself - the Brussel sprouts were the first to burn.
